My ‘here’ and your ‘there’

My little daughter was playing in a living room downstairs. My son was shouting sitting upstairs wanting something from her. Radio was on. She said she couldn’t hear him. He was getting frustrated and kept on shouting. Finally, he run downstairs. She was playing. She had her stuff. Sure thing! It hit me that there was no way they could hear themselves unless they are in the same floor. Too much distance, too many distractors. Just noise and tons of frustration. Too frequently we want to see and hear or be seen and be heard while being stuck in our “here”? Forgetting that there is someone’s “there”. How often does it happen to you?
